Our first responders play a vital role in keeping the communities of Halifax Atlantic safe. I’m pleased to share that the Province is increasing funding to help fire departments and ground search and rescue teams get the tools and equipment they need to do their jobs safely and effectively.
The Province has doubled the available funding through the Emergency Services Provider Fund, with a total of $2 million now available to support first responders.
This is good news for organizations in our area that rely on volunteers and community fundraising to maintain critical services. Whether it’s upgrading gear, replacing communications equipment, or outfitting new volunteers, this fund helps our local teams stay ready to respond when we need them most.
Eligible fire departments and search and rescue organizations in can apply for up to $40,000 to support:
- protective equipment
- self-contained breathing apparatus
- communications gear
- rescue tools and other essential equipment
Applications for this round of funding open on June 17 and close on July 29.
