16 Aug The Nature Trust Pennant River Conservation Land
Thanks to a private donation of over 300 acres of land in the Sambro and Pennant area the Nova Scotia Nature Trust announced one of the largest wilderness protection areas in all of HRM: The Nature Trust Pennant River Conservation Land.
This land right in our back yard will now be protected FOREVER. This generous private donation will assure that future generations will be able to enjoy the great rivers, wildlife, fishing and hiking in our beautiful community of Sambro/Pennant. It also ensures that an important habitat for several species of birds on Canada’s endangered species list such as Olive-sided Flycatcher, Canada Warbler, and Rusty Blackbird are protected.
I was so proud to be able to speak on this tonight, it actually gave me goosebumps!
Here’s more from CTV News and the Star Metro as well as this PDF with lots of detail and a map from the Nova Scotia Nature Trust.
